I have
learned various types of research but action research is my favorite. Why? Because
it is performed from “within” by an educator with the intent to inform and make
change and I am hoping my research on the topic “Using Technology to Raise
Fluency” will do just that. Working collaboratively with my site supervisor, we
have determined that this possible action research topic will promote personal
and professional growth as well as enhance students’ ability to learn. By using
the spiraling cycle of problem identification, systematic data collection, reflection,
analysis, data-driven action, and problem redefinition, we are hoping to identify
ways to increase the fluency and comprehension of struggling students.
I completely agree with you. Action research is very exciting. I think that your action research plan is a great idea! Incorporating technology with fluency will be rewarding to your students and campus.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting. Fluency is a huge problem and without it students have a problem comprehending what they read. With my research, I am hoping to incorporate technology (reading program, games, etc) to help increase fluency.
ReplyDeleteExcellent topic. In working with my kids fluency is definitely a huge issue. Especially when you consider that many of the behavior problems we see in my kids are due to a lack of reading ability and limited comprehension skills. This leads to disinterest and ultimately to escalated behaviors. There are, however, may more kids than the kids in my behavior class that hide their limited comprehension skills behind bad behavior. hey simply don't want teachers and especially classmates to know their limitations. ReplyDeleteI am so interested to see how your integrating technology into a fluency program will affect your students. Most students are motivated by the use of technology. Students love to be able to use the computer to play games. When you make learning fun by utilizing their interests, they are much more motivated to succeed. This sounds like a great action research topic, and I wish you the best of luck.
